menopause support & pelvic health coaching
There's much to see here. So, take your time, look around, and learn all there is to know about me. I would love to walk alongside you in your menopause or pelvic health journey & hope you'll take a moment to drop me a line.
Joanna is a Duke University trained Certified Health and Well-Being Coach. She has over 20 years of clinical experience as a Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant, advanced training in Pelvic Health and holds her Certification as a Menopause Doula.
As a Menopause Support Coach and Doula, Joanna walks alongside individuals facing the challenges of life's changes. She loves helping people discover what they really want the rest of their life to look like, and supports them while they make steps toward becoming their favorite version of themself.
Menopause is something half of the population goes through, but most medical practitioners receive little-to-no training in how to help women through the challenges of menopause. Together, Joanna and her clients acknowledge and face Menopause challenges, relentlessly seeking solutions to allow them to move into the next phase of life joyfully, peacefully and feeling whole.
Let's face it. Talking about Pelvic Health is hard. Having pelvic floor dysfunction is so common that whenever people actually speak up about it, they are often told "me too" - or that it is just something that happens as we age. While yes, pelvic floor dysfunction is very common, it is NOT normal. Combining her Physical Therapy background and knowledge of the body with Wellness coaching principals, Joanna supports her clients through their pelvic health journey - offering accountability, guidance and resources for effective treatment.
what’s in a name?
The word SPIRA is Italian for spire (the cone or pyramid at the top of a structure that reaches toward the sky). It is also the word for coil or spiral. The spiral coil is used as a tribal symbol around the globe symbolizing forward progress that returns one to their true self.

After years of working in the world of Physical Therapy, Joanna became keenly aware of how reactive Western Medicine is. Wellness is not merely the absence of disease or physical disfunction. As we progress through life, it does not need to be inevitable that we lose our authenticity or that we start adding medical diagnoses to our identities. Joanna is passionate about whole-person wellness and coaching others to become their favorite version of themselves as they face life's transitions.
"Coaching is a partnership. As your coach, I hold the process, ask the important questions and help you discover your personal vision of wellness. Small steps toward this vision can be insanely transformative. As the client, you are the expert on your own well-being - you just need someone to help you honor your expertise so you can step into your next chapter with joy and grace."
